Abstract:
An overview of Dyson presences in the world, our founder philosophy, inventions and technology. How Dyson manages the innovation process and how we arrive at product ideas which can be taken forward to prototyping. What is that development process like? To share the broader story of Dyson's ambitions as a leading global technology company in Artificial Intelligence, Machine learning, hardware and software. And how we value our people, sharing our work culture while constantly having fun in inventions within the company and also through Universities with the James Dyson Award!
Attendees will also have the opportunity to hands on with some of our latest products.
About the speaker:
Based in SEA, Yvonne Tan is a Dyson Engineering Manager overlooking the Motors Design and Mechanical Validation Teams in Singapore and the Philippines. Based in one of Dyson’s most advanced manufacturing plants, Yvonne has also overseen the build of over 20 million Dyson Digital Motors.
Yvonne graduated from the University of Western Sydney with a bachelor’s degree in Engineering Management before pursuing a master’s degree in Business IT at the University of Wales. She began her career in Hewlett Packard as a Technical Specialist in Factory Automation and later moved to Spain, where she worked on the R&D on Designjet Test & Product development. She has also worked for STMicroelectronics, Technology Resource Group - Camstar, Venture Corporation and the National University of Singapore (NUS) in the field of design, engineering and innovation. Over her years of work, she has held key engineering positions in Singapore, Malaysia, China, Spain and the US. Recently, she was also involved in setting-up the Dyson-NTU Studio (Nanyang Technological University) in Singapore, which is Dyson’s first on-campus engineering studio in Asia. There, she will take on the role of a lecturer for the Product Development Challenge module while providing mentorship to undergraduates.
During her spare time, Yvonne enjoys getting hands-on with technology, from assembling 3D printers to her most recent home project, installing gapless motorised blinds for her balcony. Her next step is converting her home into a smart home, which include controlling her air-conditioner and lights via smartphone.
