Abstract
In scientific and industrial applications, the simulation of multi-physics phenomena involve fluid flow, chemical reaction, phase change and energy release are always challenging as the complex modeling of different solvers. In order to conduct an unified solution by CFD, we present a Cartesian based framework by combining numerical models for these phenomena into a single solver. The meshing system by Hierarchical Cartesian grid and Building-Cube method with immersed boundary method is adopted for arbitrary and complex industrial used geometry. All speed compressible flow solver by preconditioned Roe scheme and 5th order MUSCL scheme coupled with species transport equations is solved for the flow and energy fields with reacting species. Chemical reaction and combustion model are computed by coupling the chemical reaction library CANTERA with level-set flame front tracking method, and the parcel model-based particle-source-in-cell (PSI-cell) method is proposed for liquid fuel spray and evaporation. An implicit LES turbulent model with automatic dissipation adjustment (ADA) model is used for transient turbulent modeling without parameters tuning. The High Performance Computing (HPC) system is adopted for massively parallel computation by MPI and CUDA platform. Several qualitative and quantitative validation cases are carried out including natural convection, IC engine, turbulent spray jet combustion, vehicle aeroacoustics, and bearing lubrication simulation.
